A San Francisco man initially listed as a victim in a street fight has is now the suspect in the murder of a 16-year-old boy who was stabbed during the melee, police say.
The teenager was fatally stabbed in the neck, apparently as he was recording on video a fight at 9:40 p.m. Saturday at Geneva Avenue and Mission Street, in San Francisco’s Outer Mission neighborhood.
Police initially identified Rocha and a 48-year-old man as victims in the stabbing attack and said the suspects were three young men, ages 18 to 20. By Monday evening, however, they had determined that Rocha was suspect in the boy’s death. They arrested him at San Francisco General, where he has been hospitalized since the fight.
The charges are murder, attempted murder and attempted aggravated mayhem, officials said.
Mejia-Sanchez attended San Francisco International High School in the Potrero Hill neighborhood.
