Troy Tulowitzki goes to Yankees, not A’s, for the minimum

There wasn’t a ton of action at last month’s MLB Winter Meetings in Las Vegas, but one rumor that ran rampant throughout that week was Troy Tulowitzki possibly having a Homecoming with the A’s. That will not be happening.

Tulowitzki, a Sunnyvale native and huge A’s fan growing up, is reportedly signing a one-year deal with the New York Yankees for the league minimum.

The move makes sense for both parties. Tulowitzki is looking for playing time, and the Yankees present that opportunity with current shortstop Didi Gregorius still recovering from Tommy John surgery. The Yankees are looking for production at the position, and the low cost for a potentially premium bat in Tulowitzki makes it a classic low-risk, high reward deal.
