Parking lots open at 6 a.m. for the 9 a.m. service. Select hotel shuttles start at that time, too.
The superstar rapper, who headlined Coachella in 2011 and was rumored for 2019, announced he would bring a version of his modern church service — which has been kept invite-only for some top Hollywood types in its previous incarnations — to the festival in Indio a few weeks ago.
Here is what you need to know, from the Coachella Sunday Service site.
How can I get into Kanye West’s Easter Sunday Service?
All you need is a valid wristband for Weekend 2.
Where is it?
It will be at “the mountain” in the campgrounds, a popular place where campers have typically watched the sunset. Once you’re on site, there will be signs to direct you.
When does it start?
Kanye’s Easter Sunday Service begins at 9 a.m.
When can I get there?
Doors for the Sunday Service open at 6 a.m.
When do parking lots open/shuttles start?
All parking lots open at 6 a.m. (including the preferred lot). Shuttles start at 6 a.m. from Renaissance Palm Springs; 6:30 from Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa Rancho Mirage; 7 a.m. from the JW Marriott, La Quinta, Indian Wells Tennis Garden, Albertsons Palm Desert. Shuttles are first come/first served and require a shuttle pass.
What can I bring?
The same things you’re allowed to take into Coachella. Don’t bring your chain wallet, but your parasol is OK.
Can I still get tickets?
As of Thursday morning, yes, they are still available via the official Coachella site. And there are shuttle passes if you don’t want to drive yourself to see Kanye early.
Can I watch Sunday Service on the YouTube stream?
You will be able to watch the gospel performance from home via the curated YouTube stream from Weekend 2, according to Billboard.
What do I wear?
While the announcement video for the Sunday Service had people all in white, Kanye has not demanded attire for his audience. And since Saturday is supposed to be really windy, I think white is a bad choice. But you will be in the house of the lord and possibly on YouTube, so maybe rethink that Speedo.
Since curfew on Saturday night/Sunday morning is 1 a.m., some people are going to be dragging. I hope they are selling the Red Bull inside this one or the Peet’s Coffee people come visit with their cold brew. Or maybe it will be like real church where someone inevitably falls asleep.
By the way, I have some more good news — Sunday is supposed to be the coolest day of the weekend, with temperatures only hitting 87 degrees.
