Letter: US youth should lead efforts to curb impacts on planet

Fifteen-year-old Greta Thunberg from Sweden and 20 others are taking the United States to court over global warming. She’s not likely to succeed since the U.S. is above the law as evidenced by its rebuff of the International Criminal Court.

The combined population of these two countries equals only 7 percent of that of the U.S. Shouldn’t it be our children who take the lead in these critical areas? Does this speak to our social and cultural systems?
