First appearing on the singing competition eight years ago, the 27-year-old became a part of the girl band Little Mix.
The group, which also featured members Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock, worked a variety of looks onstage.
In a letter she penned to her 20-year-old self for the online publication Bustle, Jesy admitted that none of the outfits took her fancy.
The foursome was typically styled in matching ensembles, ranging from sheer white blouses and jeans to floaty cotton dresses.
Reflecting on that time, she confessed that she had been terrified of getting “kicked off the show” if she spoke her mind.
She said to her younger self: “By not speaking up you’ll look back and realise there’s not one outfit you enjoyed wearing on the show.”
Before adding: “But people are always going to tell you what you should and shouldn’t do.”
The songstress then went on to admit that “some old bloke in an office” would usually influence how she dressed over the years.
Wishing she could have gone back in time, she urged young Jesy not to “give a s***”.
The Romford-born lass has clearly grown a good deal over the years, and with time has become more confident in her own ideas and opinions.
Signing off the inspirational letter, she added: “So don’t let anyone, ever, bring you down. Just do you.”
As she joins the Little Mix gang for their tour, which kicks off this autumn, the starlet is thankfully far happier with their current stage wardrobe.
Ticket holders will get to see the pop sensations perform their brand new hit Bounce Back, which will be released on Friday, June 14.
Before they hit the road, Jesy is making the most of some alone time with the man in her life – reality star Chris Hughes.
The lovebirds seem head over heels for each other, with Chris gushing that she makes him “very happy” any chance he gets.
