Trump asking Israel to punish
opponents an abuse of power
Re: “Israel bars visit by U.S. Democratic Muslim lawmakers” (Mercurynews.com, Aug. 15):
On Aug. 15, a United States president used his relationship with an ally of the United States to punish his political opponents, instructing Israel to block two elected members of Congress from entering its country.
This is a clear abuse of the power of the president.

The United States is not a dictatorship and should not interfere with the work of Congress. The response from both sides of the Congressional aisle was surprisingly mild. Where is the outrage?
