Jonah Hill joins Robert Pattinson’s ‘Batman’ as villain Riddler

Robot Jonah Hill Is Ready To Host SNL

Jonah Hill will play the villain opposite Robert Pattinson’s hero in Matt Reeves’ version of DC’s “Batman” movie. Multiple sources revealed Riddler is the best choice for the actor.

Fans have since been guessing what role Hill will play in the movie after reports of his involvement made headlines. Many pointed out that he would be Penguin, because of the actor’s body size.

However, the “Maniac” actor has since lost weight as part of his appearance in the Netflix series with Emma Stone. Having him play Penguin in “Batman” would be too predictable.

According to Collider, the filmmaker has since decided to cast Hill as the Riddler following discussions between Warner Brothers and the actor about his role.

Casting the “Superbad” star was reportedly held back until the role of the Dark Knight can be filled. Now that Pattinson is officially going to don the Batman suit, producers have announced their interest to add Hill to the cast. Aside from Hill, Jeffrey Wright has also been added as Commissioner Gordon.

The 35-year-old “21 Jump Street” star can probably take pointers for his “Batman” role from Jim Carrey. The comedian portrayed the Riddler in “Batman Forever” and Hill is said to be a fan of the veteran actor and looks up to him for inspiration in his comedy films.

Reeves’ “Batman” will be Hill’s first foray into the world of live-action superhero movies. He only voiced Green Lantern in “The Lego Movie” franchise.

Hill’s casting comes after Pattinson revealed that the new “Batman” will take a different approach. He said it will take an “interesting direction” coming from the comics that “hasn’t really been explored yet.”

“It’s interesting the different directions you can take with it and that the, in some ways, quite a specific character actually has a lot of leeway. When you look at the different tones of the movies and TV shows, you can do quite a lot with it,” Pattinson said in his interview with Variety after he was cast as the new Batman.

Filming for “Batman” is well underway. The movie is slated for theatrical release in July 2020. Warner Bros. has yet to confirm Hill’s addition as Riddler. The actor has also remained mum on the casting reports.
