Julia Roberts, Cate Blanchett And More Honor Giorgio Armani Recipient Of Outstanding Achievement British Fashion Award

Julia Roberts and Cate Blanchett honored fashion designer Giorgio Armani at the British Fashion Awards where the designer was presented with the award for Outstanding Achievement — it was an award that was more than four decades in the making. In 1980, Armani was a little-known designer but he scored a big deal — he designed Richard Gere’s suits for the movie American Gigalo. His success was born but he then did something revolutionary — he restored Hollywood glamour to the red carpet but did so with style and comfort.

In Hollywood’s golden era, costume designers made sure that celebrities were dressed to the hilt for every event but as time went on, the role of the studio changed and many celebrities were responsible for dressing themselves. The need for personal stylists became evident and this wasn’t a luxury studios were providing celebrities at award shows. Giorgio Armani found a need and he tailored it to perfection.

Armani soon began dressing stars for the red carpet and not only did they look amazing, but they were comfortable. Word spread and so did Armani’s prestige and clout within the industry. Now, Armani is one of the biggest fashion houses worldwide and his designs often dominate red carpet events.

Julia Roberts is extremely close with Giorgio (who has been dressing her for award shows for years) and she not only presented him with the award (along with Cate Blanchett) but they both wore Armani designs to the British Fashion Awards.

It was truly a delight for so many celebrities who have worked with Armani over the years to come out and honor him. Other celebrities such as Lauren Hutton, Tom Cruise, Nicholas Hoult, Barbara Palvin, Ella Balinska, Raff Law, Sabine Getty, Sara Sampaio, Jack Savoretti, and more. Eric Clapton honored Giorgio with a live performance of his song “Tears in Heaven.”
