Bay Area high school football coach arrested in child porn case

A Marin County youth football coach was arrested Friday in a child pornography investigation.

John Baptist deLorimier, 72, of Bolinas was booked into the county jail with a bail amount set at $1 million.

The Marin County Sheriff’s Office opened the investigation last month based on information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The center’s hotline received a tip about alleged child porn being transmitted over the internet.

Investigators traced the transmissions to a home in Bolinas and identified deLorimier as the suspect, the sheriff’s department said.

“This morning detectives served a search warrant at his residence and arrested deLorimier in a vehicle leaving the residence,” the department said in a statement announcing the arrest. “A preliminary investigation into his personal electronic devices revealed material depicting obscene images of a minor.”

Detectives are planning additional investigation on computer equipment seized as evidence. Investigators do not suspect any children depicted in the images are Marin residents.

DeLorimier was an assistant coach for the Tamalpais High School freshman and sophomore football team in 2019, according to a notice the school principal, J.C. Farr, sent to parents Friday.

In addition, a profile deLorimier posted online describes him as an assistant football coach for Marin Catholic High School and a coach for the Southern Marin Broncos.

Marin Catholic’s assistant principal for athletics did not respond to an inquiry Friday.

DeLorimier is also an artist and graphic designer whose work appears at johndelorimier.com and instagram.com/johndelorimier.

DeLorimier remained in custody at the jail on Friday night. It was unclear if he has a defense attorney.

District Attorney Lori Frugoli did not respond to an inquiry about charges against deLorimier.
