Suspect in October shooting, surrenders

ANTIOCH — A man sought by police since an October shooting in a shopping plaza parking lot that permanently injured another man turned himself in and been charged with attempted murder, authorities said.

Kevion Blocker, 20, turned himself into the Martinez Detention Facility on Tuesday, police said. He was accompanied by his attorney.

According to police the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office also charged Blocker with assault with a deadly weapon. The latter charge carries enhancements. Blocker remained in custody Friday in lieu of $2 million bail.

The shooting happened Oct. 28 around 10:20 a.m. at the Williamson Ranch Plaza in the 4800 block of Lone Tree Way. Officers found a 20-year-old man wounded more than once. He was hospital, and police say his injuries have altered his life forever.

Police said the two men argued before the shooting.

Investigators and a SWAT team raided a residence in the 1800 block of Foster Mountain Court on Jan. 7, but Blocker wasn’t there. Police said they found an illegal gun during that search.
