Bay Area boys basketball prep rankings: Riordan stays No. 1

Finally, a team likes the view from the top.

For the first time this season, there is not a change at No. 1 in the latest Bay Area Preps HQ boys basketball Top 25.

Archbishop Riordan, the sixth team to hold the top spot since the preseason poll came out, beat Serra and St. Ignatius last week to stay No. 1.

Bishop O’Dowd, ranked No. 1 several weeks ago, is No. 2 after stretching its winning streak to nine games. The Dragons, once 5-7, are now 14-7.

Salesian, another former No. 1, dropped to No. 3 after losing over the weekend to Centennial-Corona.

Archbishop Mitty, also at one point No. 1, came in at No. 4 after beating St. Francis at home and Bellarmine on the road.

Votes this week were cast by the Bay Area Preps HQ’s staff, with first-place votes worth 25 points, second-place 24 points and on down the line.
