Billie Eilish Was So Excited to Win Her First Brit Award, She Blurted Out Lizzo’s Name: Watch

Billie Eilish won her first Brit Award on Tuesday (Feb. 18), and she was so excited, she accidentally invoked Lizzo‘s name.

As she accepted the award for international female solo artist — for which Lizzo was also nominated — Eilish flubbed the first part of her speech as she spotted her fellow nominee in the crowd. “Lizzo — I mean,” Eilish said with a laugh, “I meant London. London has always felt like a second home to me.”

After finishing the sentence she meant to say, Eilish noticed Lizzo jumping out of her seat to scream “I love you!” and burst out laughing again. “I just stuttered and said your name! Oh my God.”

The cute moment was a lighthearted way to kick off Eilish’s heartfelt speech, which saw the “Bad Guy” singer get emotional as she admitted how powerful the energy in the room was. “I’ve felt very hated recently, and when I was on the stage, and I saw you guys all smiling at me, it genuinely made me wanna cry,” she said. “And I wanna cry right now.”

Eilish performed her James Bond theme song “No Time to Die” for the first time at the 2020 Brit Awards, delivering a flawless performance as her brother Finneas played the piano and former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr played guitar.
